Aurel Schmidt for Opening Ceremony - “the opening ceremony sign that greets you at our ace hotel shop is a rather special one: created by 2010 whitney biennial artist, aurel schmidt, our name is spelled out in trash, blood, beer, and other grotesque, everyday refuse. from this original piece, opening ceremony has developed 11 t-shirts, each displaying one of these debris-letters. printed on a custom-frayed, off-white unisex t-shirt, the “o - vanilla” variety features an iced donut and a cigarette butt, both surrounded by all manner of smudges.”
